The Relationship Between Violet and Xaden Riorson – From Enemies to Souls Connected

I just finished Fourth Wing, and perhaps what impressed me the most was not just the battles on Dragonback or the harshness of Basgiath War College, but the tumultuous relationship between Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson. This is not a love story at first sight, nor is it a simple relationship. It is a journey from hatred, and suspicion, to trust and deep connection.

1. Fateful Enemies – A Forced Relationship

From the moment Violet entered Basgiath, the relationship between her and Xaden was determined by the history between the two families. Violet is the daughter of General Lilith Sorrengail – the person who ordered the execution of Xaden's father. This left Xaden with a deep hatred, and as soon as he learned that Violet had joined the academy, he could not hide his hatred.

- Xaden is dangerous, but also very controlling. He could have killed Violet on the first day, but instead, he observed and challenged her.

- Violet is not a weakling who can be trounced. She accepts Xaden's hateful gaze but does not allow it to break her.

From the beginning, this relationship is built on conflict, hatred, and a seemingly unbreakable wall.

2. When hatred gives way to respect

Basgiath War College is not a place for the weak. Surprisingly, no matter how much Xaden hates Violet, he cannot deny one truth: She is not as weak as he thought.

- Violet survived the Parapet despite her weaker body.

- She didn't ask for help from anyone but fought and adapted independently.

- She proved that intelligence and strategy can defeat physical strength.

Xaden gradually saw Violet not as her mother's shadow, but as a completely different person. And his hatred was gradually replaced by respect.

3. Broken secrets - Trust built from brokenness

I like how this relationship doesn't happen easily. It's full of challenges, doubts, and times when Violet is pushed into dangerous situations that Xaden can't ignore.

- Xaden is always there when Violet needs him, even though he doesn't admit the reason.

- Violet begins to realize that Xaden is not as cold-blooded as he appears.

- They share each other's secrets, their dark sides.

The most important moment is when Xaden allows Violet to see her vulnerable side - the pain of losing her family, the pressure to protect those under her command. And in return, Violet also shows Xaden that she does not need to be protected as a weakling, but needs to be respected as a warrior.

4. When Fire and Storm Mix - An Undeniable Connection

There is no denying that Violet and Xaden have a strong attraction to each other. But more than the moments of being immersed in that attraction, what moves me the most is the way they become a couple fighting together.

- They do not change each other's nature but push each other to be stronger.

- Xaden does not protect Violet in an imposing way but lets her fight in her way.

- Violet does not soften the darkness in Xaden, but accepts it as a part of who he is.

Their relationship is not a fairy tale love story. It is the bond of two scarred souls, finding each other in a world where life and death are just a knife's edge away.

5. Conclusion - An Unpredictable Love Story

The love between Violet and Xaden is not the gentle kind, but the kind of love forged in battle, challenge, and loyalty. It reminds me of the saying:

"We don't choose who we love. But when love finds us, it can change everything."

I don't know what will happen next in Onyx Storm, but one thing is for sure - Violet and Xaden are no longer enemies, but two warriors who cannot live without each other on the battlefield.

What do you think about their relationship? Will it continue to be strong or will it face more challenges?
